About

First Diagnostic exists for one reason: when a warning light comes on, most people are handed either a guess or a big repair bill, with nothing in between. We sit in that gap.

What we actually do

You send us the fault code(s) your scanner shows and a description of what the car is doing. A professional mechanic reads them personally and works through what's genuinely likely, the way a good technician reasons at the bench, not a database spitting out a canned definition. You get back plain-English answers: what the codes usually point to, what to check first, and whether it's a sensible DIY job or one for a garage.

Why remote

A huge amount of diagnostic work is thinking, not touching. Codes, symptoms, history and context tell an experienced mechanic most of the story. Doing it remotely means no garage visit, no waiting room, and a far lower cost than booking diagnostic time in person, so you can make an informed decision before anyone starts swapping parts.

Honest by design

Some faults genuinely need hands on the car, a scope, a meter, a physical inspection. When that's the case, we'll tell you plainly rather than sell you a diagnosis that can't be completed remotely. The goal is to save you money and guesswork, not to replace a qualified in-person mechanic where one is really needed.

How to start

Pick a service level on the Services page, or send your details through the request form on the home page first if you'd like a steer on which level fits. Direct contact details are shared once you go ahead with a service.

Diagnostics provided by First Diagnostic are advisory. Always confirm safety-critical repairs (brakes, steering, airbags, fuel and airbag systems) with a qualified in-person mechanic.
