Over a decade in the trade, and still elbow-deep in it every day.
I've worked in brand-specialist workshops — first a VW-only garage, running diagnostics and mechanical and electrical repairs across the range, then BMW-only, from electrical fault-finding to full engine rebuilds. Two of the most electronically complex brands on the road, diagnosed every single day.
Today I run my own independent workshop — all makes, all models, no preferences — and my own line of work is motorsport engineering: building and wiring drift cars from the ground up, fabricating roll cages, and hand-building custom wiring harnesses for competition. I've worked trackside as pit crew and head mechanic, where a missed fault isn't a warning light, it's a car that doesn't finish. I'm also part of a drift school, setting cars up and keeping them running right.
